Community Food Initiative

FADA is currently working on a model to allow a community food initiative to flourish in the Kildare region.

Key Strategies to do this are

• Setting up a Food Buying Club — or several, depending on demand, as a first step towards setting up a community food co-op

• Setting up a pilot CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) project — or several, depending on feedback and demand.

• Work towards establishing a Community Processing Kitchen that meets health and safety standards to allow small micro-food processing businesses to establish and to run cooking courses.

• Work towards establishing a research unit to explore methods of extending growing season and range of food that can be grown in the region.

We are seeking expressions of interest both from food producers/ farmers and people interested in partaking in the initiative.

1. To participate in the Food Buying Club –
2. Shareholders in a community Supported/ Share holder Agriculture – CSA
We plan to launch the Food buying Club formally at Feile na Samhain in Newbridge on the 31st of October

If you are interested please contact info@fada.ie. Please put “attention CFI” in the subject line.
