Bia Linn community garden

Bia Linn (“Our Food”) is Newbridge’s first community garden. The space is open to the public and allows local people to learn about food production from the basics of seed planting to food preservation.

GIY is a registered charity which aims to inspire people to grow their own food and give them the skills they need to do so successfully.

 NOOOOBY Newbridge Food Buying Club

Standing for ‘Out of Our Own Back Yard’ the idea is based on the Food Co-op ideas of sourcing local producers and suppliers of local, tasty, affordable and if possible, organic  food.

Newbridge Energy Map

FADA is currently working on creating a map of Newbridge, detailing the use of energy across six different sectors: residential, commercial, transport, industrial, services and agricultural.

The aim of creating the map is to provide information on the amount of energy used within the town and detail the source of the energy that is used in the different sectors. The project will move forward in proposing measures on how to reduce the quantity of energy used and also propose viable alternative energy sources. The final stage of the project will be to implement some of the measures.

Warmer homes scheme

FADA is in the process of developing a ‘warmer homes scheme’ for the Kildare area. The warmer homes scheme is a government funded scheme, through Sustainable Energy Ireland, which works to improve the housing stock by providing attic insulation, lagging jackets and heating controls to households on social welfare payments.
