Seedsaving Workshop

FADA hosts seed-saving course

Event to be held above Johnson’s Pub in Newbridge

FADA will host a seed-saving course Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Crooked House Premises above Johnson’s Pub in Newbridge, County Kildare. The course will be from 8 pm to 10 pm and costs 10 euros to attend.
The course will be taught by Wendy Nairn, who has produced organic vegetables for markets and restaurants for 20 years. She is a tutor at Carraig Dulra in County Wicklow, an organic farm which teaches agricultural and environmental skills to people of all ages.

Seed saving allows gardeners and farmers to continue their crops from year to year without having to buy new seeds from companies. It also preserves crop variety, which helps protect plants against disease – since the 1900s, 90 percent of the world’s genetic crop diversity has disappeared.

To book a seat at the course call 087-79-5421 after 6 pm. Tickets can be purchased from FADA by Paypal at www.fada.ie or on the night.
